· You must be listed on the Permit to Conduct Open Air Burning to have a fire and you must remain present for the duration of the fire.
· You must first check on the Halton Hills website to ensure there is no fire ban in place. Website is http://www.haltonhills.ca/fire/index.php
· Check for wind – if the wind is blowing towards the building, you cannot have a fire. The flag is a good indicator for the wind direction.
· Make sure the hose is in place. The valve will need to be opened if the hose is required. The hose does not need to be rolled out. There is no hose in the wintertime, so it is necessary to have water jugs filled with water and ready to use.
· Make sure the fire extinguisher near the BBQ is in place and charged.
Having a fire:
· Move the fire pit out in the open. The fire pit cannot be under the trellis.
· Fire starters are in a container
· The Axe is available upon request
· Use the chopping block for chopping wood
· Use a moderate amount of wood
· There are tools hanging for moving the burning wood around
· Use the water, fire extinguisher, and hose if the fire gets out of control.
After you have a fire:
· Do not move the fire pit until it is cooled down completely the next morning
· Pour water over the coals to put the fire out
· Put the screen over the fire pit
· Put the top on top of the screen
· Leave the fire pit as is until the morning after the fire so all can cool off
· The morning after the fire, shovel all the ash into a garbage bag. Make sure there are no hot coals. Use more water if the coals are still hot.
· Sweep up around the fire pit and put the fire pit back in its original location.
In consideration of being listed on and granted permission to use the fire permit, I agree to comply with the above terms and adhere to all applicable rules and regulations. I understand that by using the fire pit, I am releasing Bennett Village and The Gallery from all liability.
