Unfortunately I was unable to attend the Blue Jays Opening Night, but Theresa Hartley sends the following report:
We had 36 Residents out for the ball game last night.
They enjoyed hot dogs and ice cream bars before the first pitch.
- Ann Bowes won best dressed in Blue Jay attire.
- Goldie Cash won closest birthday to the first ever Blue Jay Game, April 7, 1977.
- Pat Harris won the "BJ" on the bottom of her plate.
- Carol Devereaux won for knowing Dave Winfield killed a seagull.
- No one knew the pitcher who told the Mayor of Philadelphia to "kiss his ass" -- Todd Stottlemyre. So that prize was given to the next closest birthday -- Barry Besso.
We lost most of the audience by 9:00 p.m. -- about 12 stayed till the last strikeout!
Walter Doupagne won the pool of $90.00
Thanks to Graeme for putting the game on the big screen and to Ron Javorsky for barbequing the hot dogs!
