In Loving Memory of Irene Green
At 98 years young, Irene Green leaves behind a life defined by love, resilience, and an undeniable humour.
Born in Toronto, Irene called the city home for 89 years before spending her final nine years in Georgetown. She was caring, graceful and kind. Irene was sharp, witty, and fun to be with—a true friend and a constant presence in the lives of those lucky enough to know her.
Irene shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Gordon Green, until his passing in 2015. Together they built a beautiful family. She was a devoted mother to Robert, Kathie (Sid), and Julie, and was predeceased by her son, David, in 2015. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a beloved great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren.
And, of course, there was Ava—her faithful four-legged walking buddy and companion.
Irene lived a long life, but more importantly, she lived it well: with strength, humour, loyalty, curiosity, and an unmistakable spark that remained uniquely hers.
Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Edgewater for the kindness and care they showed Irene.
Rest peacefully, Queen Irene
