June & John Lenz were original residents of The Gallery and were wonderful ambassadors while living here. They moved to London in 2018 to be closer to family.
I received this email on Monday from the Lenz family.
Good afternoon. We wanted to share the news that Mom passed away early this morning.
She began to decline late last week, but by yesterday, was deteriorating rapidly. Thankfully this period did not last long and she was well cared for and comfortable!
We are just beginning the process of getting organized. Her obituary will be posted on Jones' website in the near future with service details.
Thank you for all your friendship with Mom through the years. She treasured it!
June Lenz Obituary - January 13, 2025
We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of June Lenz at the age of 82 in London, Ontario. June is predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, John. She was the devoted mother of Andy (Radka) and Cathy (Tom) and grandmother of John (Sara), Alex, Sarah (Cade) and Tim (Crystal). She was also the proud great-grandmother of Camden, Kyenna, Mara and Henry. June was predeceased by sister Joan Gilchrist (Larry) and is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephew as well as family in Austria and England.
June was born in Georgetown to Stanley and Winnifred Lyon. She spent virtually her entire life in Georgetown and treasured her life and her friends here deeply. She was a Georgetown girl to the very end. After GDHS, June followed her dreams exactly as she had planned; she married her long-time sweetheart, went into teaching and had the noisy and busy family she had always wanted.
June was a much-loved teacher, completing her education as a mature student and spreading her joy of learning to everyone she could. She was always active, both physically – walking, biking, skiing, golfing or curling – and in many social circles following her retirement. June loved to travel. The times in Florida and travelling with their dear friends, both in North America and further afield were legendary. As she moved into the Gallery, her enormous social family expanded again, giving her great joy in their new events there. June’s deep dedication to her family and friends touched everyone who knew her.
The family looks forward to sharing memories later in the spring. Visitation and services will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, Ontario. Please look forward to a confirmation of this date.
In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you consider making a donation to Alzheimer Society of Canada, or a charity of your choice that assists children in need.
The family would like to thank the devoted staff of peopleCare Oakcrossing in London Ontario who had such a positive impact on the last months of her life.
